Earthly Bodies

This weekend I will be in Nottingham taking part in the Off-site Programme of Angel Row Gallery's Shifting Ground exhibition. I will be making a new piece of work, "Earthly Bodies". City centre pavements will become hosts for my drawings, welcoming interaction and conversations with the curious. This vein of my practice involves looking at urban environments, primarily pavements, and using them as venues for performance and installation work that explore ideas of faith and belief through action .
I shall be developing the work "Pavement Astronomer, where I was charting the chewing gum constellations of the pavements. I will be observing and recording the the movements of earthly bodies through my hand made constellations. Through my activities I shall be investigating the importance of the things we believe in and attempting to write myself a fortune based on what happens in Angel Row this weekend, questioning our influence on the environments we move through and their symbolic importance to us. The artwork will encourage people to think about their beliefs and see the magic and beauty in environments that they maybe don’t always look at.
